Champagne Maison Bollinger Brut Rosé. Fresh as a Rosé, balanced as a Bollinger. Demonstrating unique blending and red-winemaking skills: a true alchemy, a very technical wine.
Wine type: champagne - Bollinger Rosè
Alcohol content: 12°
Region: Aÿ, Avenay, Tauxières, Louvois et Verzenay. France.
Grape/blend: 62% Pinot Noir, 24% Chardonnay, 14% Meunier. Only 5 to 6% red wine added due to its power Over 85% Grands and Premiers crus.
Type soil: the soil is poor and rocky, the temperature is ideal in summer (partly due to the micro-climate created by the local wind, the Ora del Garda): vines here still co-exist alongside olive groves. The valley is more open here and the excellent sun exposure allows the grapes to ripen to perfection.
Colour: bronze tones combined with the intense depth of a great red wine.
Aroma: the nobility of red berries: hints of red currant, cherry and wild strawberry A spicy touch, not unlike Special Cuvée.
Tasting notes: a subtle combination of structure, length and vivacity, with a tannic finish due to the adjunction of red wine Bubbles as fine as velvet Flavours of wild berries.
Serving suggestions: crayfish, lobster, one-side cooked salmon. Japanese cuisine or not-so-spicy Asian cuisine. Fruit based dessert: fruit soup, strawberry tart, raspberries.
Please note that it is an offence to purchase or attempt to purchase alcoholic liquor if you are under the age of 18.
Editor's note: The story began with Athanase de Villermont, the youngest son of a noble family with a brilliant destiny. He immediately foresaw the extraordinary potential of the wines of Champagne, but as an aristocrat he was forbidden to become involved in trade. He then met Joseph Bollinger, a widely travelled German who had left his country of birth to learn about the Champagne wine trade, and Paul Renaudin, a local man who was fascinated by the world of wine.
